Located in the Parc naturel régional Normandie-Maine, a protected area of forest, hedgerows and countryside on the Normandy and Pays De La Loire borders, Parc Mayenne is easily accessible from the ports of Northern France. With Caen only a 1.5 hour drive away it is ideally situated for both relaxing weekend getaways and longer holidays.
Open all year, Parc Mayenne is the perfect location for your French holiday home. Get involved in Parc Life at the Kingfisher bar, watch the varied wildlife in and around the Parc, spend some time at our fishing lake, raise your heart rate in our gym or simply relax in the peace and tranquillity of the unspoilt French countryside. The time spent at your holiday home is whatever you want it to be.
Parc Mayenne is also ideally located as a base to explore the beauty France has to offer. You can discover the historic and beautiful local area like the rose gardens in Lassay-les-Chateaux, Bagnoles d l’Orne’s famous casino and Domfront’s calvados distillery or venture further afield in the region to one of many historical towns and picturesque villages.
Days can be spent relaxing by the pool or on your terrace, walking, fishing in the River Mayenne, cycling or watching the varied wildlife such as red squirrels and deer. Parc Mayenne also boasts a wide variety of rare birds including Hoopoe, honey buzzards, buzzards, snow buntings, green woodpeckers, and kingfishers.
Social evenings in the bar are a great way to meet other homeowners and make some new friends. Many homeowners also attend some of the local ‘fetes’ and social events to involve themselves in the local French community and get the true French experience.
We are now in our fourth season at Parc Mayenne. Having been caravan and motorhomers for 35+ years, we swapped our wheels for a static park home in the middle of a pandemic. Like others here, we discovered Parc Mayenne while trawling the Internet for bricks and mortar. Its proximity to several ports was one of the important considerations for us. Our first site visit was the first weekend we were released from lockdown in the UK.
Clare, Simon and Steve Jackson were very helpful, arranging a visit for us and armed with masks and sanitiser we arrived and were immediately 'hooked' by the stunning beauty of the surroundings. Due to the delays caused by Covid, it was to be another year before we could return for our first stay, although Clare kept us up to date and sent us photographs of the progress of bringing the home from its previous site in Brittany. The joy of sitting on the deck on a warm summer night, listening to owls, and woodpeckers can not be overemphasised. Turning a corner and coming face to face with a stag or fawn (not a commonplace occurrence for us, coming from the industrial heartland of England) is just spellbinding.
The night skies are spectacular because there is no light pollution. The myriad stars of the Milky Way are often visible and breathtaking - a truly spiritual experience. There are many like-minded owners on site who enjoy the same simple pleasures in the beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The site managers, Clare & Simon, have always been very helpful and responsive to requests for work. Clare has even come out in her PJ'S to reconnect our tripped electrics! They offer a range of services to help enhance the homes. They keep the site looking fabulous and the pool area immaculate.
There are organised gatherings at Easter and for Fete Nationale, in addition to bar night on Friday nights during the main season. This creates a great opportunity to catch up with old and new owners.
Parc Mayenne is a truly magical place.
Are we glad we chose Parc Mayenne?
YES.
Would we do it again?
MOST DEFINITELY!
We have been caravan tourists in France for many years and always looked enviously at those who could afford to buy homes there. In 2017 our daughter found details about Parc Mayenne…this was something we had never considered and always felt such places would be lines of closely spaced mobile homes with a club at the centre. After a few conversations we decided to at least enquire and very soon found ourselves making a site visit in September. We were delighted to find Parc Mayenne an oasis that appealed to our desire for peace and tranquility.
Simon and Clare showed and explained the comings and goings of the Parc and we left with a definite choice and subsequently made the home our own. This is our third season and we only have praise for the Parc, the environment, the facilities and the people whose company we have enjoyed. This has been nicely encouraged by Clare and Simon and their willingness to assist whilst at the same time encouraging us to maximise this beautiful and somewhat unknown area of Southern Normandy/Northern Loire.
We have always loved coming to France and often thought about buying a holiday home there.
When we visited Parc Mayenne and saw the beautiful surroundings, experienced the peace and serenity, we knew that this was the place for us.
Clare and Simon have made us so welcome and been so supportive as we settled in, and we have made so many good friends here that we regard Parc Mayenne as the perfect place to be - we now regard it as our second home.
We first found Parc Mayenne about 10 years ago, we absolutely loved it then, but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to leave after only a few years, we knew then we would have to come back! About a year ago we came back for a visit, found to our delight that there was a vacant home that suited us perfectly so we purchased it and have once again been loving life here at the Parc.
The Parc is perfect for our needs, it has everything, including a wonderful swimming pool, a lovely bar area for optional gatherings & BBQ’s, fantastic countryside and wildlife within the Parc’s boundaries, and even opportunities for fishing on site.
As soon as you start to settle in you know you are part of a great little community, and with Clare & Simon (Parc managers), nothing is too much to ask, and help and advice is always there for you.
We are looking forward to being here a long time, and are already planning our visits for next year!
3 years ago we were very fortunate to stumble upon a property for sale at Parc Mayenne. It certainly has lived up to all of our expectations and more. The setting for these homes are stunning, with the river Mayenne running through the parc. Also meadow land, fishing lake, swimming pool and bar. This is an ideal place to have the opportunity to meet other home owners. Because of where the parc is situated, you can relax or be as busy as you wish. With beautiful villages nearby to explore and much more.
The parc is managed by Clare and Simon, who maintain the parc brilliantly. Nothing ever seems to be to much trouble for them. You also have peace of mind that in your absence your home is safe and secure. For us it is our peace haven. We feel very privileged that we have had the chance to be part of the Parc Mayenne community. We look forward to spending many more happy years there.
On Monday 20th July we were introduced to the lovely Clare and her very capable husband Simon.
It was a sort of pit stop trip to select our plot for when our new mobile home is delivered in due course. Whilst sitting at home in Jersey, we envisaged the kind of place we would like to choose. Lo and behold on our arrival we're taken to a plot that Clare and Simon thought we'd love, and we did! It was more than we'd imagined with a picturesque view looking down to the river where the only signs of life is mostly the wild kind (thoseon four legs).
After pinching myself at the whole prospect of owning our country seat in our favourite area of France I'm going home to Jersey chomping at the bit until we can move in and enjoy our little piece of paradise. Thank you Clare and Simon for all you'redoing for us.
We’ve been holidaying in France for over 20 years, looking at a possible permanent move or holiday home. I’d looked at Parc Mayenne a few times but always thought it too far north and a little remote.
How wrong was I! Last year we decided to visit en route home from the Dordogne. We gave Clare a rough idea of what we were looking for and she showed us a couple that matched our requirements. After a couple of site visits and meeting a few other owners we realised it was just what we were looking for and the icing on the cake was driving to the picturesque local town of Lassay les Châteaux
We spend as much time as possible here, enjoying parc life (and weekly bar nights!), and also discovering many of the local towns and attractions. Being total novices to parc homes Clare and Simon couldn’t have been more helpful. We have made some wonderful friends and even our dog Amber is made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoys her walks along the river. Our only regret is that we didn’t visit sooner and discover this little piece of paradise years ago.
Ideal residential park home site, now in my 5th year here. Lovely area in rural France just south of Normandy. The site is ideal for those who want a quiet getaway in northern France. The site managers, Clare and Simon, are very friendly and helpful.
There is lots to do in the area, and it is an ideal location for visiting the rest of France. About 2 hours from Caen, it is easily accessible from the UK. If you are looking for an affordable second home in France this is well worth considering.
